Latvia was part of Europe and as well as other borderlands of Europe experienced the fashion trends of the time, which were embodied within examples of pure style and local variants of Art Deco. Art Deco, in fact, was not simply a fashion trend. It can be looked upon as an epoch in history. It had its own ideals, mentality and way of life. Furthermore, creative work of some Latvian artists can be explained only in close context with this style. The first to sense and appreciate the fresh winds of this basically decorative style, were artists of fine arts. Ludolfs Liberts reveal himselves as the master on the world art scale. |
